We learn as this goes to press of the death of our dear friend Aram Kinosian on Monday, July 4. We saw him and spoke to him and cannot unsee the joy of life in his smile and laugh just the day before, on the patio outside church, where he exercised his love of everyone in sight, in a voice everyone knew and loved. We will all laugh together again, but not today. Today let the violin speak to our loss and to Aram’s memory.
The six Bach Cello Suites are for unaccompanied cello and are some of the most frequently performed solo compositions ever written. They have been performed and recorded by many renowned cellists and have been transcribed for numerous other instruments, including the violin. They are considered some of Bach’s greatest musical achievements.
