Prelude to Worship
Little Prelude in C major . . . J. S. Bach (1685-1750)
Ein’ Feste Burg – A Mighty Fortress Is Our God . . . Martin Luther (1529)
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing; Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He,
Lord Sabaoth His name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.
Prelude to Creed
Bach Chorale – Alles ist an Gottes Segan
Musical Interlude
Amazing Grace . . . American folk hymn, arr. by John Carter
Postlude
Chorale: Es ist das Heil uns kommen her . . . J. S. Bach
English translation:
Salvation unto us hath come by God’s free grace and favor;
Good works cannot avert our doom, they help and save us never.
Faith looks to Jesus Christ alone, who did for all the world atone;
He is our one Redeemer.
Little Prelude in C minor . . . J. S. Bach, arr. by MCA
