Daisy Swanson plays violin and viola. She was selected to participate in the California All-State orchestra in the past few years for violin and viola, as well as participating in CODA’s Honor Symphony and the CCS Honor Orchestra. She was selected to play at the Bach Festival Young Artists’ Showcase. Daisy actively plays in YMM honors orchestra and MPC String Ensemble. Recently she won a gold medal and garnered a Command Performance from the CMEA State Solo Ensemble Festival alongside Nathan, earning the highest possible score in the competition. Additionally, she acts as the Music Librarian and the Assistant Artistic Director for the Pacific Grove Pops Orchestra. Daisy studies with conductor and violinist, David Dally. Aside from music, Daisy also has interests in sciences and ocean conservation, volunteering with the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Violinist Nathan Nguyen is passionate about music. During his current high school career at York School, Nathan has participated in CODA’s Honor Symphony, CCS Honor Orchestra, and the Bach Festival Young Artists’ Showcase. He was selected out of thousands of applicants to join the California All-State Orchestra. Recently he and Daisy won a Command Performance in the CMEA State Solo Ensemble Festival as well as a gold medal. Currently, he plays with the MPC string ensemble and is the concertmaster of the YMM Honor Orchestra. His violin teacher for the past few years, along with Daisy, is David Dally. As a guitarist, he plays in the All-Star Jazz Band through the Monterey Jazz Festival. Nathan’s love for ocean life and conservation led him to volunteer with the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
