This Sunday we focus on that Genesis story, where Eve is fashioned from Adam’s Rib. What a metaphor! It’s inspired a famous movie starring Hepburn and Tracy — and not a few rib restaurants.
Adam’s Rib suggests fitting with another, that profound sense of belonging with another.
In these weeks of pandemic lock-down, some have been blessed with a partner, a spouse, a friend, a child to share these uncertain times. We belong together, especially now – sometimes too much! “I’m going out for a bike ride — alone!”
But in the Genesis story of Adam’s Rib, we learn that we belong to another, not just for comfort and companionship, but for a bigger purpose.
This Sunday we continue our sermon series on “Belonging,” and we’ll mark Mothers’ Day. Join us, on-line and in Spirit – belong to our community.
