FROM OUR PASTOR

Do you recall returning to school in January, and how different its world looked? All the reds and greens and Santa decor that had rioted those rooms in December were now packed away by our industrious school teachers. In their place where whites and blues and even — amazing — empty bulletin boards. It was as if the world were starting afresh, an empty palette to reset our lives.
This Sunday we begin a new sermon series called, “Reset: A Sermon Series on Jeremiah.” Jeremiah is perfect for the reset of January. Jeremiah calls us to reset our religion, our commitments, our daily habits.
In this week’s lesson Jeremiah calls us to reset our sense of calling. What is our life’s purpose? Especially as we face illness, disability and the challenges of aging, our purpose must likewise change. Indeed, God’s call may find us feeling inadequate. But, Jeremiah shows, that is exactly the best time to hear God’s call.
