Tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, we begin Lent. So, let’s get deeper for Lent. Let’s dive into the deep end of the pool, studying the Book of Romans.
Throughout Lent we’ll focus on Paul’s letter to the church at Rome, considered his most mature reflection on the significance of Christ. He’s into deep waters here, trying to explain how Jesus fulfills all spiritual hopes and how the resurrection radically reshapes destiny. Paul will stretch for biblical metaphors, bodily analogies and legal language to keep us afloat, as he tries to describe Jesus’s impact.
In this Sunday’s reading Paul uses the metaphor of Adam. The world of sin and death and evil was caused by the “old Adam,” but a “new Adam” has come, Jesus Christ, who inaugurates a new world.
Are you ready for a new spirit in your life – full of hope, peace, trust and purpose? Then grab your swimsuit and come to church, as we dive into the waters of Romans!
