FROM OUR PASTOR
Tuesday, April 6, 2021
Our Sunrise Service this past Easter Sunday was like a dress rehearsal for this week’s scripture. A small band of believers gather together, and wonder, “what’s happening?” Some believe that Christ is resurrected, but others need more convincing.
The disciple Thomas, in John 20, embodies all who still have questions. Perhaps Thomas embodies not just the skeptic, but all believers: to believe it to embark on a lifetime of new questions!
I see that zeal for questions each week our small group meetings. Old truths are reconsidered, familiar phrases we’ve used forever are examined and analyzed, symbols and rituals we thought we’d outgrown now touch us with astonishing power.
In this week’s sermon, guest preacher Reverend Melanie Silva will tackle Thomas’s doubt as a model of living faith. You’ve already met Melanie through her prayers on Sunday video worship. Melanie has blessed us, as well, with her leadership of Soul Sisters South and our widows’ circle. And, beginning April 18, she’ll be leading a new, after-church gathering for those facing loss (see article below).
Welcome Melanie, as she preaches. And welcome your own questions of faith!
