Your grandchild is cranky, cranky, cranky and nothing seems to help. Then you launch into a silly song and soon, you are both laughing.
You are at the grocery store and a song comes on that brings back sharp and painful memories of a loved one lost and there you are, choosing vegetables with tears rolling down your cheeks.
You hear a beautiful duet and your heart is so touched you are almost unable to even breathe.
The music of the orchestra swirls around you and its power thrusts you to your feet as you find yourself madly clapping and wonder-how did I get here, on my feet?
An offertory solo gives you goose bumps and you are transported to another place.
Music. It touches us in unexpected and surprising ways. So does God. Perhaps they are one and the same.
