WOW!! It’s the first Sunday of Advent, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the end of a holiday weekend, and the beginning of a new Christian Year.
Advent is all about waiting, but not in the sense of waiting for a holiday. It is about cultivating an attitude of watchful waiting for God every day.
Joseph Slate gets at the right kind of waiting by telling the story of the animals preparing the stable for the guest who is coming to their house. Pig makes room, Lamb cleans up, Goose stacks the hay, and Duck lines the crib with eiderdown. All the animals are eager to welcome the baby Jesus to their home.
Most of us are eager for 2020 to end and 2021 to arrive with a vaccine and reduction of restrictions. To prepare you for worldly events and Christmas, this week we are mailing you the Church in the Forest Advent 2020 Meditation book, composed of meditations and prayers by fellow members and staff.
May it provide a daily catalyst for your watchful waiting and seeing God’s daily coming into your life.
