Dear Friends,
Advent is upon us, our season of waiting and expectation.
We wait with confidence and hope for the threefold coming of Jesus Christ. He comes as an infant, born on Christmas Day. He comes to us in the Eucharist. He will come again, in the Second Advent. While it is the work of God’s grace that brings forth all that we wait for, we have the ability to clear the way in our lives and our hearts to make room for his coming.
Making space is not an easy task, in the bustle and demands of the season. Music can help us focus and be present to the Spirit. Christmas is a time for music! Christmas carols will fill offices, stores, supermarkets, and radio stations. For a few short weeks, Christmas songs seem to unify the world.
Join us this December as we look at the Songs of Christmas. We’ll reflect on the biblical songs of Isaiah, Mary, Zechariah, and the Angels. But we’ll especially consider those beloved carols that carry the sacred hopes of Christmas: O Come, O Come Emmanuel (12/1) ; Lo, How a Rose E’Er Blooming (12/8); Go Tell it on the Mountain (12/15) ; The First Noel (12/22); O Little Town of Bethlehem ((12/24); and finally, Away in A Manger (12/25).
Jesus is coming. . . in sacraments, songs and Living Spirit.
